Critical Insight Blog

My Name is Dallas Sandberg, a student at the University of Idaho. I am studying Criminology and am wanting to be a police officer or have another job in law enforcement. I am from Arizona and having a lot of immigration problems and debates about our immigration laws, working in law enforcement has become a high interest tome. I am currently taking a class called social problems. This class is extremely interesting, because it breaks down the bigger problems society has today. He makes you look at each problem in depth and makes you realize what all is going on in our country today. A few of my favorite problems we have gone over this semester are Alcohol and Other Drugs, crime and Social Control, and Work and Unemployment. These subjects are daily occurrences and are going to affect what I want to do in life and wanting to be in law enforcement I am going to have to deal with these things every day. One big thing i want to do working in law enforcement is help people and according to one of the most famed basketball coaches of all time, “You can’t live a perfect day until you do something for someone who will never be able to repay you.”  Studying these social problems will help me understand and know more on how to help these people overcome their problems.
